Case study
Magor Brewery Bottling Hall Phase 2
Client: InBev
This commission was to extend the bottling and warehouse facilities at the South Wales plant within a fully operational site.. The scheme comprised a new 100m x 30m single storey portal framed building and an extension to an adjacent 12m high warehouse to be completed in 32 weeks. On one side, the new bottling hall joined onto the existing facility, which had to remain in operation throughout with no compromise of its strict hygiene conditions permitted. We acted as lead consultant with Cassidy & Ashton appointed as our sub-consultant architects.
Added value
The design had to consider access, disruption of operations, interface with existing services and maintenance of hygiene standards throughout. To minimise cost in the face of highly variable ground conditions, the foundations were designed as partly piled and partly ground bearing, with fibre reinforced floor slabs which had to be checked locally for plant loading.
