Case study

Wells House, Malvern

Client: Chris Phillips Homes
Wells House was built in 1748 as a coaching inn, and later converted into a small hotel for visitors benefiting from the pure spring Malvern water in the grounds. It then became a boarding school until 1991. In 2007/8 our client converted the building into 18 luxury two bedroom apartments.

Added value
When our client took ownership of the building, the timber floors and joists had already been removed. Parts of the building were unstable so we provided a structural design allowing building works to progress in phases. We helped develop a work sequence so that floors and walls could be assembled and disassembled in a particular order, negating the need for expensive temporary works.
