Case study

Chatham Maritime redevelopment

Client: South East England Development Agency
The 450 berth marina development is situated in the impounded dock, and incorporates a fuelling facility and floating ablutions block. The marina facility was introduced before the site was fully developed, so it had to allow uninterrupted use by clients during ongoing development works in the adjacent dockyard which included ground remediation, a service road, utility diversions and hard standings.

Added value
Our survey and repair works to the gravity docks walls produced a 120 year design life. Valuations of maintenance liabilities enabled the transfer of assets to a management company. Our positioning of shower and laundry facilities on a central pontoon reduced walking distances to vessels. Mains gas and foul drainage connections minimised servicing costs and maximised berthing tariffs.
