Case study

South Suffolk 6TH Form Centre

Client: Suffolk County Council
The SWISS Partnership, a conglomerate of 10 local schools, are developing a new 6th form facility on a 12 acre greenfield site on the outskirts of Ipswich. The centre will serve over 2,000 students and create a sustainable educational establishment. Due to the immediate proximity of the site to a large residential area, traffic related impacts dominated concerns of local residents and elected members.

Added value
Having established how parking by teachers and students would impinge on local residents, we worked closely with the Client and Suffolk CC to develop the transport strategy for the site with a real focus on promoting alternative, sustainable travel modes.  This approach also enabled the Council to evaluate the potential cost of supporting alternative travel schemes.
