Chertsey High School
With the existing secondary school being demolished and a new building under construction a detailed design was required for a new permanent access for the school. Having previously obtained a Section 184 Agreement for the temporary access to the site Robert West were ideally placed to provide their services.
The modifications required the widening of the access and junction improvements, which include signalization and staggered crossings in Chertsey Road and at the school access. As these lie within Surrey County Council’s (SCC) road network a Section 278 Agreement is required.
The detailed design incorporates the design of highway and drainage, pedestrian amenities, signage, lighting and traffic signals and overcame the constraints of both limited space and neighbouring properties.
The team also liaised with Statutory Undertakers to identify any apparatus from the existing utilities which may be affected, analysed and proposed solutions such as diversions or protections successfully managing costs and programme.
Road Safety Audit Stages 1 and 2 were also undertaken to ensure the safety of the school’s pupils.
Our team have received positive feedback from the client for their timely and responsive service.
We look forward to hearing the outcome of the Section 278 Technical Approval.
