Great George Street
Robert West were appointed by Workman LLP to provide highways and transport advice to support an application for consent of a proposal to convert a building previously used as offices into a high-end hotel of 134 beds close to Parliament Square, London.
Robert West initially provided a Transport Assessment, Travel Plan and Delivery and Servicing Plan to support the planning application.
Our client’s application was initially refused by the local authority due to air quality concerns over the number of additional trips which could be generated which would not accord with Westminster’s Air Quality Action Plan. The team at Robert West were quick to respond by providing further detailed data within the short timescale available. This was provided by undertaking a detailed survey at a similar nearby hotel observing all vehicle movements for a 24 hour period and noting electric and hybrid vehicles. By applying the results to 8-10 Great George Street - this had a positive impact on the original estimation.
Robert West were delighted to see that planning permission was received in November 2019.
We are continuing to work with Workman LLP on other London schemes including a BREAM compliant Travel Plan for an office expansion close to the Barbican.
