South Grove Walthamstow
Robert West were appointed to produce a Transport Assessment, Travel Plan, Delivery and Servicing Plan and Construction Traffic Management Plan to support a planning application for the redevelopment of a land parcel known as South Grove in Walthamstow, London. Robert West first provided transport and highway advice in respect of this residential mixed use scheme for 473 residential units and 167sqm of commercial floorspace.
The development is intended to be car free with the exception of parking for those with mobility impairments. This was promoted on the basis of the accessibility of the site to local facilities and amenities by public transport, walking and cycling. The Transport Assessment provided a robust evidence base which not only concluded the sustainable credentials of the site, but production of a detailed public transport assessment confirmed there would be no material impact on local public transport services. The proposal included a thorough Residential Travel Plan setting out a range of measures to support and promote use of sustainable transport by residents, and offered two dedicated car club bays and 1 years membership for all resident to the local car club operator.
Robert West successfully negotiated the transport justification for the scheme with Local Highway Officers, with the first application having received planning approval in November 2016, and the revised application currently in the determination phase.
